Submission to the Productivity Commission: Interim Report on Net Zero

Energy Futures Foundation’s submission to the Productivity Commission outlines a least-cost pathway to decarbonising Australia’s heavy vehicle sector — the nation’s most urgent net-zero opportunity.

The paper supports introducing an emissions-reduction incentive for heavy vehicles and proposes an integrated, technology-neutral policy package combining fuel tax credit reform, heavy vehicle CO₂ standards, a low-carbon fuel standard, and investment in Green Freight Corridors.

Together, these measures would unlock cleaner freight, cleaner air in our cities and towns and align Australia’s freight transition with its 2035 emissions targets
