We’re an Australian non-profit, independent, non-partisan organisation dedicated to delivering a transport and energy system that is affordable, circular, and has minimal impacts on our health and the environment.
OUR VISION
Australia’s freight and energy sectors are the cleanest and most affordable in the world. Powered by vast quantities of sunshine captured as electricity or zero-emissions e-fuels, Australian ships and trucks deliver Australian green energy, iron and critical battery products to the globe. At home, we breathe clean air, enjoy cheap freight and feel secure in Australia’s energy independence.

Meet the team
Bruce Hardy
Executive Director & Founder
Bruce turns promising clean-energy ideas into businesses, partnerships and policy that can scale. Before founding EFF, he led AGL’s emerging business team, launching Australia’s first electric vehicle subscription service and the Electrify Now! home electrification platform. His team grew a residential demand-response programme serving more than 135,000 homes.
His background spans intellectual property law, venture building and commercial strategy. At EFF, he brings industry, government and philanthropy together to remove the barriers holding back zero-emissions transport and energy.
Jo Taranto
Consultant — Government and Community Engagement
Jo connects government, business and communities around practical environmental change. As co-founder of Good for the Hood, she has helped councils and communities build the knowledge and confidence to act on waste, sustainability and climate change.
An environmental strategist and co-host of Channel 10’s Planet Shapers, Jo has worked with more than 200 organisations. Her background spans corporate health and safety, community engagement and behaviour change. At EFF, she supports government and community engagement, helping build the relationships and public understanding needed for the clean transport and energy transition.
Ed Miller
Director of Policy & Analytics
Ed connects rigorous economics with the argument that gets a decision made. He leads EFF’s policy and analytical work, turning complex transport and energy challenges into practical proposals for government and industry.
He helped establish 180 Degrees Consulting and later served as its Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director. As Managing Director of Forte, he led a global team using structured finance to improve education and workforce outcomes. A former economics director, speechwriter and World Universities Debating Champion, Ed brings analytical depth, clear communication and experience building organisations around a social mission.
Andrew Dickson
Director of Maritime
Andrew brings a seafarer’s understanding of ships and a developer’s understanding of what it takes to build clean-energy projects. His career spans a decade in the Royal Australian Navy and more than two decades in renewable energy, including wind, solar, renewable hydrogen and ammonia.
A Churchill Fellow, he travelled through Europe and the Pacific to study maritime decarbonisation and wind-assisted ship propulsion. At EFF, Andrew works on the policy, commercial models and partnerships that can turn those solutions into cleaner, more resilient shipping for Australia and the region.

Jude Lee
Director
Jude is Transport & Environment’s Regional Policy and Program Director for Asia-Pacific, leading regional strategy and partnerships across shipping, aviation, road transport and clean energy. She works with civil society, funders and policymakers to advance transport decarbonisation across the region.
Previously Deputy Executive Director at Greenpeace East Asia and Director of Asia Partnerships at the Multicultural Leadership Initiative, Jude brings extensive experience in climate advocacy, organisational leadership and international collaboration.
Hadi Mazloum
Chair and Company Secretary
Hadi is a lawyer with experience in commercial disputes, taxation, insolvency and corporations law. He lectures at Melbourne Law School, teaching Remedies, Contracts, and Disputes and Ethics.
His career includes nine years at the Victorian Bar and Special Counsel roles at Russell Kennedy and HWL Ebsworth. He brings legal, governance and regulatory experience to EFF’s work on effective, evidence-based climate policy.
Alice Lang
Director
Alice is Chief of Staff and Global Head of Corporate Development at solar technology company 5B. She brings experience in strategy, innovation and the energy transition, with previous leadership roles in future business strategy and operations at AGL.
A former Boston Consulting Group consultant, Alice has helped electricity companies respond to technological change and develop new business models. Her expertise spans scenario planning, governance, stakeholder engagement and organisational development.
Thomas Earl
Board Observer
Thomas is Senior Director of Modelling and Data Analysis at Transport & Environment (T&E), where he leads research that informs clean transport policy and advocacy. Based in Singapore, he supports T&E’s Asia-Pacific work across shipping, aviation and road transport decarbonisation.
Thomas holds a PhD in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Sydney and completed postdoctoral research in France. He brings expertise in data analysis, modelling and translating technical evidence into policy.
Behyad Jafari
Treasurer
Behyad is Director of Advocacy at Minderoo Foundation. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Electric Vehicle Council, leading policy and industry collaboration to advance Australia’s electric vehicle sector.
His experience also includes serving as Chief Growth Officer at Splend. He brings expertise in public policy, transport electrification, business development and stakeholder engagement, connecting government, industry and civil society to support practical change.

For over 30 years, they've shaped key European environmental laws. They got the EU to set the world’s most ambitious CO2 standards for cars and trucks; helped uncover the dieselgate scandal; campaigned successfully to end palm oil diesel; secured a global ban on dirty shipping fuels and the creation of the world’s biggest carbon market for aviation. In 2022, T&E’s campaigning led to the EU ending the sales of new combustion engine cars and vans by 2035.
